Queste tre nature invisibili dell'Essere si manifestano in tre giorni chiamati timore, verità e amore che rappresentano simbolicamente il Padre, il Figlio e lo Spirito Santo. Poirel ricostruisce minuziosamente la storia di questo trattato (la datazione, le fonti e la fortuna), attraverso uno studio sistematico sul contenuto e sulla tradizione manoscritta.

It is a critical edition of the "De tribus diebus", a treatise written perhaps before 1121, in which Hugh of St. Victor claims that the reflection on the beauty and immensity of creation can lead us to understanding the power, wisdom and goodness of God. These three invisible natures of the Being are manifested in three days, symbolically called fear (the Father), truth (the Son) and love (the Holy Spirit). Poirel meticulously reconstructs the history of this treatise (dating, sources and fortune), through a systematic study on content and manuscript tradition.

He is an archivist, palaeontologist, and he works in Paris at the Institut de Recherche et d'Histoire des texts (CNRS). His studies concern mainly the Parisian school of St. Victor.

Hugh of St. Victor (1090/1100 - 1141) was a Canon Regular, philosopher, exegete, mystic and "magister". He took part in the intellectual debates of his time, and many writings are attributed to him. He wrote letters, sententiae, commentaries, pedagogical, exegetical, spiritual, theological and speculative treatises: "Didascalicon de studio legendi", "De sacramentis christiane fidei", "De archa Noe".
