Accusato più volte di panteismo, egli si è sempre difeso, mostrando di conoscere attentamente le Sacre Scritture e la tradizione patristica. I suoi trattati riguardano le polemiche contro il protestantesimo e il rapporto che intercorre tra le creature e il Creatore.

Silesio is the Italian name of Johannes Schleffer (Breslavia 1624 - 1677), a presbyter, philosopher, doctor in medicine, poet and mystic. Repeatedly accused of pantheism, he always defended himself by proving his thorough knowledge of the Scriptures and of the patristic tradition. His treatises concern the controversy against Protestantism and the relationship between the creature and the Creator.
